Discuss Category M Fire Alarm System in the Security Alarms, Door Entry and CCTV (Public) area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi, Can anyone explain what type of system this is? Is it a purely a manual call point system connected to a sounder circuit ?

Intended for giving the alarm in response to operation of a manual call point and having no means of automatic detection.

Break glasses, sounders and control panel.

edit: Manual systems e.g. hand bells, gongs etc, may be purely manual or manual electric, the latter may have call points and sounders. They rely on the occupants of the building discovering the fire and acting to warn others by operating the system.

Seems very relaxed, Its a very open building so I guess makes sence. Never been requested to fit such system. Always been installs with smokes and heats.

Presumably this is in a building where there is sufficient "humans" to raise the alarm and press the button in replace of automatic detection then?

To be fair yes and no, 90% of the time will just be one or 2 in a office but when they have functions will be more like 250.
