Hello,
I was hoping to get an idea of what's wrong with my light before paying for someone to come out and tell me that I just need to buy a different bulb.

I have a Veniecien 5 light chandelier from next that need 5 x 20 W 12 volt G4 capsule bulbs.
The instructions do not specify LED or halogen and I am waiting for next customer services to get back to me on this.
Link to the light: http://cdn2.next.co.uk/pdfs/homeinstructions/806682.pdf

The problem: I have Philips dimmable LED's 20W 12 V (no dimmer switch yet, just normal switch) the lamp will not turn on when the LED's are installed.
However; the lamp turns on when a single halogen g4 capsule is in the fitting alone OR when mixed with the LED's.

Is there a reason why the fitting won't take the LED's alone?
Is there a way to find out if the light has a transformer that needs to be replaced to acept just the LEDs?
Or is it because the LED's are dimmable (I don't have any non-dimable LED's to try it with and can't get more at the moment, the money and not being able to go out due to Covid shielding)

Any thought that might help me here?
Thank you.

TL;DR
Fiting wont turn on with LED bulbs but will with halogen or LED & halogen mix.

The light fitting will have a halogen (electronic) transformer (probably 105va) for the 5No 20w halogen lamps (5x20=100w).
There will be a minimum load that the transformer requires connected across it (typically 20va) so one 5w LED will be insufficient for it to work (Dimmable or otherwise). It may work with all 5 installed, if sufficient load (wattage). Installing one halogen is increasing the load above the minimum required which is why it works then.
Almost certainly though you will need to change the existing transformer for a dimmable LED Driver (30w for 5x5watt lamps!!!) if its dimmable you require!

Sorry I ment that the LEDs are 20 watt 12 volt but the lamp takes 5 of those bulbs.

These ones to be precise.

How would I workout what voltage transformer is needed?
I will get a qualified person to do the job, I just want to be prepared with all the right info before approaching someone for the job.

And to make sure what they recommend is accurate too!

The link to amazon says 2w (20watt equivalent) so as recommended a 'dimmable' LED Driver (230/12v) of at least 5x2w = 10watts.

Great thank you, I am only used the the old halogen watts ratings, so the fitting probably wont work as is with all 5 bulbs if it needs a min of 20w.

You have been very helpful! Thank you.
