Hi all

I am a licenced aircraft engineer, and in recent years a lot of the work in the uk and Europe is going further afield where labour rates a cheaper ( even though I would not trust half of them with an airfix kit) and so I am thinking of a career change.

I have a friend who is an electrician (currently in afganastan) and he did an apprenticeship when he left school which I assume is the traditional method of becoming a spark.

My problem really is where to start my friend says that a jib card is a must and that I would need nvq3 for this. Now I know I will need to study but I would need to do most of it at home as I can't afford to go to college full time and due to the nature of my work I am all over the world at times so evening classes are out too???

So does any one have any suggestions

Sure there is distance learning courses out there ( not sure i agree with them tho) as for experience i used to work for a sparky for free to get some ( eventially he started paying me lol) don't need JIB or NVQ3
