I supply bathrooms and wondering where my fitters stand with changing a bathroom light. They are competent in electrical work however they aren’t electricians. Are they ok in simply changing the bathroom light like for like?

debatable if only a like for like replacement.
Suitably rated fitting for me.

so a like for like electric shower which has rcd protection already... can a competent fitter change this too?
If suitably competent, yes.....but I've seen some real cock ups in such situations.

edit. A good example in post below.
Along with this....

depends on competence. once went to a shower that had been changed by a wet pants who thought he was competent. due to the configuration of the new shower, the 6.0mm cable was too short to reach the terminals, so he joined a bit of 2.5mm with the sheath stripped off to the 6.0mm inside the shower. twisted and taped. he called me out when the 30A 3036 kept blowing. his joint was fused together, all 3 conductors shorted.
