Just got this email, which says -

Earn an extra £100 to £300 on your installs!
“SolarResource.co.uk Teams up with Derventio Energy to offer PV Installation Subsidy”
SolarResource.co.uk are currently working with Derventio Energy to provide PV installation funding to the PV industry. Derventio Energy specialise in the provision of large scale energy efficiency improvements to the UK domestic market, focussing efforts in social housing and areas of the highest concentration of fuel poverty.
The initiative, which we are currently working to finalise, will if successful allow Derventio Energy, via SolarResource.co.uk to offer PV installers subsidies for every property installed in specific areas throughout the UK. The process is designed to be simple and will enable those providing PV systems installed on to domestic properties a fixed subsidy, which could be anything from £100 to £300 per property.
To assist us in understanding both the demand and interest amongst our partners, we would like to understand the projects you have planned over the next coming weeks/months.
Let us know the POST CODE, PROPERTY TYPE (end of terrace, mid terrace, detached) and KW SIZE of install and in return we will let you know how much money your future installs are worth.
i.e CV37 8NR, MID TERRACE, 4KWP
The initiative is designed to encourage solar pv installation into areas of high levels of fuel poverty, so you may discount your installation fee.
NOTE THIS SERVICE IS ONLY FOR FUTURE INSTALLS AND NOT FOR INSTALLS YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE.
How many installs will you do? 10 installs could be worth £3000, 50 installs = £15,000 etc!

I really can't work out their angle..

Derventio turned over £100K last year renting out construction equipment..
and SolarResource.co.uk is a distributor

Am I becoming cycnical or is it saying "tell us what business you're doing and we'll pinch your customers"?

£100 is going to have no impact on wether the client can afford it or not, and are you paying over the odds for the products in the first place?

Very clever, IMO it is a way they get free leads on your customers who definitely want the product, they just need to out bid you or convince the customer they are better.

unless they've somehow tapped in to some sort of subsidy from the energy companies trying to meet their energy efficiency targets.
