Hello all, i have recently qualified last September and used this forum in regards to testing/faulting finding and AM2. Start at a new company next week and they do alot of EICR's in commerical property's (fixed wiring). Was told the majority of these are occupied and will be live tested most if the time which is fair enough. Havent done much commericial so just have a few questions.
1. In a hotel for example, where would the gas and water/gas bonding be located? And if this cant be located would this be limed?
2. If can only do a ZS. Is it permitable to take the FU off for a fire alarm pannel for example and do it, as well as a inspection. Just dont see how taking a live FU off is safe as the last person might not have tighted up the connections properly.. and then cause a short.

Thanks, I've ordered the GN3 so will be giving it a read.

1. Gas and water bonding should be at the incomer. Any maintenance staff in the hotel will be best placed to advice the location of these. If it cannot be located, sometimes it isn't, you will have to test the pipework with the wonder lead. Certain items on the schedule of inspection will in that case be a limitation but not the continuity of the bonding conductors.
2. Test from the spur not the panel and bear in mind some panels will require a code to reset if you isolate the supply to it. Regarding any loose connections, that is the risk with live testing. Remove slowly have a good luck, get your insulated drivers on the terminals and check for tightness before removing fully.
Good luck.

On my third year i was testing on my own almost every week in domestic social housing, did a few at schools as well, so working on single and three phase. The company i worked for cut alot of corners so just wanting a better idea.
