Have any other members been involved in hydroponics on a commercial scale ?
This is a serious question and not linked to drug production in any way , so please do not drag the tread in to the gutter .

It is for the production of barley grass for livestock fodder . But I would like to hear from any others that have installed similar set ups .

Many thanks

Dave

My mate used to do it a bit in his garage, he lives in one if the less desirable areas of Nottingham and couldn't work out why the kids on the estate used to stand at the end of his drive every night. Until one night plod knocked on his door asking about it and advised him to get the windows bricked up to stop the kids converging.

Hi bud,you are not going to get any definitive, detailed information,on an open forum, for the reasons you alluded to...

There are three sets of people in this job,the small hobby grower, the large horticultural enterprises, and the folk we all know about.

I would recommend contacting a college, who specialise in such information, such as Reaseheath,at Nantwich.

.....Because in a few hours, every thread on here will contain the words "bypass","chinese" and "nudge-nudge"...:bobby:

The ones we are looking into will produce enough for around 90 horses a day .
The idea has been around for a few years now , was just wondering if any others had been involved with similar stuff .

Sod bricking-up ...... electrified grilles is the way to go! :)

Growing barley pull the other one you mean them long green leaved plants really don't you.

No seriously have a look at at some Dutch sites as they use hydroponics on a large scale for growing tomatoes, peppers etc. On a massive scale

If this project is as large as the OP says why haven’t the promoters looked for a consultant?

This just doesn’t ring true, why would they employ someone that has to resort to asking a group of random guys on the net?

Not really Tony , it is not that large from what I can make out .
I have been approached by a company that is marketing these , as they know we have a good grounding in both the agricultural and equestrian markets in which they wish to target , and it could tie in well with the larger pv systems that we still occasionally install .

I am wary of it being the yet another "next best thing" ! And would like to know if any others had experience , be it good or bad , with this technology ?

I figured a electrical forum was one of the better places to ask , considering the obvious need for power on a unit like this .
