Hi Guys,

Have only stuck to domestic installs to date, but have had a couple of enquiries for larger systems on commercial properties, and are therefore after a bit of help.

Am I right in thinking that the VAT rate applicable would rise to 20% rather than the reduced 5% rate for domestic systems? The commercial properties in question are builder's merchants and factories.

Also, what is the state of play with regards to planning - the rules changed slightly I believe recently?? Does this mean that commercial installs are also now classed as 'permitted developments'??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are correct on both of your points. We have seen a good increase in the amount of commercial projects v's domestic and are happy to help installers with their first few commercial jobs. We run a Spitfire "Projects" team that can provide assistance in many areas to help you win work (free of charge to new or existing customers). There are some details on our web page, or feel free to get in touch and we can outline ways in which we may be able to assist you.
