Hi,

Iam replacing my loft insulation to a thickness of 270mm, putting 100mm between the joists and then 270 over the top, then flooring it. I’m Putting 175mm loft legs on top of the joists which are 130mm which should give a slight air gap. My question is there is 20mm metal conduit running single cables to the lights and switches which is sitting on top of the joists, is the conduit permitted to be within the layers of insulation?

Thanks

should be OK with lighting as long as the lights are low wattage e.g. LED. however, singles in conduit is ancient. could it be time for a rewire?

Ought to o be easy to rewire in that conduit. Personally I'd use derating factors for whichever gives worse case (insulation I think) cable rating and adjust accordingly

Probably will be some sort of led bulbs.. they are the old colours so was thinking about changing them while I was at it, but was just going to keep it singles in conduit?
