Hi chaps

How would you best mount or connect into this light? It seems like it would be back entry but my cables would be coming from conduit or armoured from side. I know it's a pretty stupid question but what is neatest method

I don’t think the fixing holes in the fitting line up with the holes on a conduit box.
mid the wiring is in containment on the surface, you’re stuck with a bulkhead light I’m afraid. Nothing decorative.

Can’t you come in from behind? Inside the building

mount light on a conduit box. might need to fit an oversize box lid. hole in lid for flex tolight.

I think weight of fitting will be to much for box won't it

I can't little it's a garden wall. I can't see any practical option other than to tell her to get a different fitting

What sort of wall is it, and how tight would rear entry be (if you pardon the double entendre) ?
My though is you might be able to cut a channel in the wall to bring a cable down and then in to a conduit junction box, or even "thin" SWA or NYYJ3C1.5 style wire directly to it if your bend radius can be managable.

I have to agree if using conduit put a T box in with a stuffing gland and flex out of it into the fitting by cutting the mortar joint out to take the flex. I had to do similar not so long ago and it looked ok! Can't find a pic at the moment though.

done a few of these as well if its a cavity wall i used a cable tongue to bring flex into the rear entry of the light or

or do what strima did it keeps it looking clean

Agree. I’ve fitted a few similar luminaries on plastic conduit boxes, with no issues. Sometimes the mounting plate for the light, had to be drilled for the fixing screws.

With that style of light I filed a little of the backing plate at the bottom, this allows the flex to pass through.

I like this idea, you could mount the joint box at a lower level if this helps appearance wise, then run the outdoor flex up to the light.

You could also use MICC and terminate earth tail pots inside the plastic base, as I did home here.

Just mount a bell box on the surface of the wall then add your light. Yes flex it in

many years ago you used to be able to buy surface mounting boxes for these type of carriag lights..
they looked a bit like over sized besa boxes with 2 x 20mm threaded entries and came in black , green and white.
