Consumer unit in toilet

I've recently been to visit friends who've just moved into a newbuild house and I was shocked to see that in the small downstairs loo just oposite the washbasin was the board for the house! And they have all the certs too! Ok I'm still new to this game but how can this be right?

It's not enclosed in any way just a regular MK sentry mounted around head-height?

no your not missing nothing cloakrooms are not special locations so just classed as any other room apart from the toilet roll holder that is

Agreed, but should still be installed somewhere sensible, or in a cupboard.

I did a refurb last year where i had to move the CU 3ft to the left, so that the homeowner could install a WC under his stairs.

Meter stayed where it was (in the WC) and he put a cupboard round it.

Looked awful

No it doesnt. Only special locations as we know.

Personally, i wont be standing or swimming in the bottom of the toilet pan anytime soon, so i dont think it can classed a pool.

Jason I deffinetly and i would guess a fair number of sparks here have dived head first into a toilet pan at some time.
Normally about 3-4 am on a sun morning after a night out.

thats how you know you are atrue sparky when you go into someones houes and start looking at the fixed installation

Is the house located somewhere where there is a risk of flooding? I vaguely recall something in regs saying under these conditions the regs allow that the CU can be moved higher by up to 1m.
