I've had this problem twice in the past week where i bell out each end of the line conductor in the RFC, and theres continuity, even power up one end of the RFC and getting 230v back down the return.

So you would think this is continuios throughout the ring going out and coming all the way back to the board..

But when i actually test for r1 end to end continuity i get an open circuit? >50.0

what do you think could be the problem, Ive even tried it with 2 different MFT's, So its not my meter

In all honesty i have had a really **** day today, really pee'd off, so after getting 0.49 on rn end to end and then 0.84 on the r2 end to end, I ended up packing up and leaving without getting R1 + R2 as i never expected to get a reading as there was no r1 reading at all

I suppose thinking about it now i would of got an R1+R2 so far around the ring untill i got to a break in the ring and from that point onwards i would of got the open circuit.. wouldnt i?

(I have calmed down now..lol)

i had similar scenario!! had all sockets off!! all connections were home and tight! pain in backside!! my MFT said open circuit but my volt/cont tester give continuity!!

i was there nearly 3 hours trying to get it going!! nothing! then my tester started playing up and battery's died!!

r1 r2 readings were perfectly normal and within spec, as was ZS..! drove me mad..! any ways that was the only result i omitted from the EIC as customer wanted me out of house and was not prepared to pay me for chasing my tail..!

New box all checked out fine apart from that result...! i noted cert to say Continutity proved but thats it...!
