Chaps,

i have been asked to build a new control panel for an irrigation system.

Now, long story short, there was one there, but vandals have broken in and set fire to it, so i have no reference as to what was there before.

Anyhoo, i havent been to look at the job yet as its some distance away.

So, once i have the spec, would any of you chaps care to help me assemble this thing via the forum?

I have a very basic knowledge of them as i have installed 'pre-assembled' ones before, but they are all different as they are designed to each irrigation system and pump etc.

And no, i wont be paying you.

Much obliged:D

Hey bud.

I been trying to post pics on here of a panel that I built and installed today!!!:)

I dont get to build panels much as like you say they usually come pre-made with the equipment you're installing and just need a supply.

Mine was for a swimming pool install, pumps, fans, heaters, filters etc. Had a rough spec from pool people and away to go.

Have to say , really enjoyed putting it all together, different I suppose.

There's plenty of dudes on here that do this day in day out I'm sure we can all help you out.;)

Jason,

I build panels for various systems virtually every week, Ive never built one for an irrigation system, but how hard could it be? (Famous last words!) :p

What sort of system are they looking for? PLC controlled? Relay logic?

Any problems, I will willingly help! :D

Hi Jason.s more than happy to help, built and rebuilt a few panels in my life. Not irrigation systems but control panels none the less. have experiance in plc control with HMI if that helps good luck.

hi everyone...... hope everyone's good????? i just got back from an extremely hard day so am glad to be home now checking out forums!!!!!:):):):):)

Jason,
I've built quite a few myself and normally have the spec written on the back of a smoke packet! Find out what the system is meant to do and the equipment that the panel supplies/controls. I'm more than willing to help you with this and if given the info, will supply drawings using autocad. A good tip is to get your panel gear from Home - Cablecraft - Cable Identification and Cabling Accessories which I have found is the cheapest and the best. Any switchgear or controlgear should be sourced from Farnell / Electronic Component Distributors / Suppliers / Electronics, Electrical Parts, Electrical Components and Wholesale Electronics. which again, are far cheaper than RS. Regards, Dan.

PS. Also try www.cpcwarehouse.com
