Hi I’m in the middle of installing a 2500kw cooker, I have an existing cooker circuit with 6mm cable on a 32Amp breaker with a spur coming of the cooker switch to a double socket which I assume fed the old cooker on a plug top!
My question is:
Can I replace the double socket with an terminal unit to wire cooker to?
And if so do I use 6mm cable? (same as circuit cable)

Or do I do what 2 sparks have told me to do and put a 13Amp plug top on and simply plug it in the socket spur from cooker switch? ( don’t want to do that,,)

Thank you

2500kW? you sure about that?
2.5 kW or 2500W

Anyway.... 2500/230 is about 11A... under the 13A that a plugtop can handle.
Would be better to replace the socket with a fused outlet and hardwire the oven in.

The 6mm cooker circuit would is enough to take a freestanding oven/hob

main thing is... did new cooker come with a fitted plug? this would decide the best way.

1.5mm flex from cooker to plug.

it might have to be rated for hot environment.

have a look in the owners manual for cooker.

if you are coming off a connection plate instead of a 13A socket then 4 or 6mm would be ok.

If I put it on fused 13 amp outlet, could I still use the 1.5 flex?
Thank you
