Hi,

I have just purchased a Matrix MEH601 Cooker Hood, I bought it for the purpose of recirculation not ducting. There is already a plug socket for an extractor fan on the wall so the basic electrics are already in place, however I need to replace the current plug socket with a Double Pole switched fuse spur outlet, could somebody please advise on how I do this. I have carried out various electrical jobs around the house but this has thrown me!!!

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

I agree with the above, Its by far easier to fit a plug....

However now im expecting a new thread "How do I fit a plug to an extractor"

Ok thanks for your help although a slight extraction of urine may have been used, no pun intended. I had already thought about just connecting a plug to the wire of the extractor but I was concerned as the instructions stated that a DP socket should be used and as the plug will be behind the actual chimney I wasn't sure if that was a safe thing to do

Sorry to appear thick bigbaddave but there is only a standard plug socket in place at the moment not a DP, is it still ok to attach a plug to the end of the wire and do it this way instead of having to replace the socket completely, if this is as clear as mud I apologise I'm just concerned to the safety of just plugging it in as appose to wiring it in.

Yes but the plug will be behind the chimney of the cooker hood

In that case it still doesn't matter. You dont have access to either the spur / Socket so whats the problem?

This post has gone on for a bit too much for my liking. Lol

Honestly, Fit the plug, Plug it in. Put extractor up.. Job done..
