went to cook tea tonight and our cooker wouldn’t turn on, I know it’s not the cooker as the hob doesn’t work. There is also 2 separate red switches for each. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Also tried to flick the switch on the fuse and left it turned off for 30 minutes still haven’t had any luck. Could it be something wrong with the fuse box?

If the circuit breaker is in the on position and the cooker switch that provides power to the oven is in the on position you need an electrician to start taking things apart and tracing which points are getting voltage and trace the origin of the fault.

The red switch and the fuse switch are both on and have tried turning both on. The rest of the fuses are working fine. Tried to turn the main fuse switch on and off to but that hasn’t helped.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say the switches are on and you've tried switching them on?
Is the circuit breaker for the oven in the same position (ie up or down) as all the other circuit breakers in the fuse box?

Yes they are all down on the fuse box and have tried flicking them up and back down again but still no look. I mean the red cooker socket on the wall next to the cooker if that helps? Sorry I haven’t got the best of knowledge with electrics.

Is it just the cooker that is affected ? Are the rest of the electrics still working , or are some of them off.
Is there a separate RCD protecting it .

I would take a picture of your fuse box Lauren and post it here.
A fuse (circuit breaker) that is in the down position is in the off position, so I'm guessing they are all up?

They are defiantly all on as the lights are working fine and that is down aswell, ours seems to be on when the switch is down and off when they are up.

Is there a socket on the cooker switch that you could try something in? Table lamp or something. Would prove there was voltage to the switch.
My boyfriends step dad came round and we have found out both sockets are working so it’s definitely something behind the cooker, although we didn’t have the right screw driver to take this out so that’s as far as we got. So it could be a fuse or loose wire behind that we are thinking?

he meant the socket on the cooker switch, if there is one.
