I’ve been asked by a client of my wife to have a look at a bill submitted by their builder. She’s an accountant as I’m a spark. Generally if I price on a per point basis I would charge at £65 - £70 with mid range white accessories per point and then allow £500 for DB, bonding and commissioning.
The electrician in central London is being charged at £105 per point plus £2000 chasing plus £660 for testing etc.
I would obviously like to be able to charge that kind of money but is this acceptable in an expensive part of central London bearing in mind that the builder is adding probably 20%

If the customer accepts the price then yes you can charge that much, wherever you are working.

The charges do sound quite high, especially £2k for chasing (that's a hell of a lot of chases, a specialist chasing contractor would be a far cheaper option I think)
But if the customer is daft enough to agree that price without getting comparative quotes then they will get away with charging it.

You can charge that kind of money, but the market may not stand for it and you may not win many jobs.
Or maybe customers too daft to look for other quotes will just pay it and you'll be making a lot of money.

Pimlico Plumbers charge a heck of a lot more than that for electrical works. They have more work than they know what to do with.
The owner, Sidney Charles Mullins, earned himself an OBE by having the chutzpah to charge eye-watering amounts for electrical and plumbing works in central London.
Don’t be a scardy cat, go for it. You might end up with a CBE!
