Hello,

I would like to get a CSCS card but to get one I need to be employed which I currently am not.
For me to become more employable I would need to have a card. So what is the best way to go about this?

Thanks

Don

you could go for an ecs card (ancillary operative) without being in work. you might need to sit a health and safety test though.

I did the test already. They said I can get the card asking as I can provide course details and that I am working to level 3. I am working to level 2 at the moment. I am looking to do level 3 next year as the college I am with only offers up to level 2.
I will look it up and check if I can fulfill the criteria.

Thanks.

yeah the rules are a bit confusing. i think you can get a trainee card, but only if you have sponsorship from an employer. the basic ancillary operative doesn't need specific sponsorship or proof of quals.

With the job centre you can CSCS for free, make an appointment to see if they can get you on a day course - free as well. CSCS not ECS you'd have to find that yourself. You'll get ancillary labourer if not on a course.

CSCS cards are changing and becoming trade specific so unless you have a trade with a qualification or working towards a trade qualification I don't they will issue a card even if you sit the health and safety assessment.

I sat my ECS today to renew my ECS card and sites are heading more and more towards no ECS card or CSCS card no entry.
