can anyone recommend me a decent wired alarm for my own house. been looking at texecom and honeywell advice is appreciated

Funny, I am looking one myself. Just a basic one. 3 pir's and a couple of door contacts. So far I've only purchased the cable! Lol. I'm running a 6 core to each piece of equipment and doing the connections at the panel. Don't know what to go for so will keep an eye on this thread.

I`m pro Texecom......2 good versions , Veritas excel, excellent 8 zone with area text, or premier if you need full all dancing system upto 640 zones

Texecom, fitted loads never had a problem, go with hard wired, make sure you fit Texecom Mirage DT PIR's more expensive but very few false alarms, buy cheap buy twice!

Haha ive done the same. Just bought 6 core cable. Looks like its going to be texecom.

i'd be wary of some of this alarm cable that's available these days. i've seen thicker spider web. it's so thin, it's pathetic.

Apart from the power cables, Texecom run alarm and tamper circuits down 2 cables only. So if you use Texecom pir`s, the will come with the eol resistors built in making installation simple.

are the texecom veritas plus anygood or just get the premier range

Your choice is dependent on what size system you need and whether you need the functions of the premier panels for the small domestic systems I use the Veritas Excel and had no problems

Its 4 bedroom detatched house having 1 pir on landing 4 downstairs and 3 door contacts.
A customer of mine previous had a texecom that had the function to text your mobile when alarms activated. I want simialar system.

A Veritas Excel will give you 8 zones so with what you have planned all the zones would be used if it is likely that more protection is needed then a Premier panel would be your best option
Either option could be connected to a Texecom speech and text dialler to give you the text function

The Premier has facility for plug on com2400, this will send text messages including zone number, text, area, and device activated.
