I need to install 2x 600x1200 led grid fittings into a small office.

The occupant needs to have the option of dimming the light levels because of the nature of her work.

IV found a couple of fittings but not sure how I source the correct dimming option. Domestically, anything I have installed with a dimming function has just relied on the switch itself dimming the fitting. All the fittings iv found so far have DALI, 1-10v, switch dim, push button dim.

My question is, do you have to have these systems in place to use one of the options above? We use DALI here so I know that system has to be installed but unsure of the others.

And a 1-10v dimmer switch, do they usually require a neutral?

No, the 1-10v signal is on a seperate pair of conductors.

You can get 1-10v dimmers which also incorporate a switch for the 230V supply or else you would usually need a seperate switch to turn the fittings on and off.

It's not obvious from the picture but this one from aurora switches the 230V supply by pressing the knob and gives a 1-10v signal by rotating the knob. 1 Gang 2 Way Rotary Dimmer - http://auroralighting.com/gb/ProductDetail/AU-DSPLED

So with a 1-10v fitting and a 1-10v switch, all I'd need to do is connect a control pair between the 2?

I'll just need to check I can physically connect a pair between the 2. It's a suspended ceiling so chances are the switch wiring will dissapear in conduit somewhere
