A customer of mine has a small kitchen and wants me to fit a dishwasher in the unit below the hob.I am trying to think of a reason why not as its a bit unusual, but i cant think of any reason why not but would like opinions please.

Unusual it maybe, but i can't think why you can't comply with your customers request either. As it's a small kitchen, i guess any and all available space needs to be utilised to best use!!!

As above, the only thing that could stop you is manufactures instructions.

I was thinking that in many 'integrated appliances they supply a self adhesive foil to stick under the worktop above presumably to stop the rising heat damage, but then many ovens are installed under hob units so i would think the underside of any hob would be designed to deal with that.
Just never come accross it before and it will look a little unusual.

Will check the instructions for the hob though. Thanks.

The other reason for the foil is to stop water penetration of the underside of the worktop. Dishwashers can give off water vapour /steam in use or if the door is opened straight after it's finished. You may get condensation in the hob?

I hope they don't forget, I don't think the Christmas Turkey will taste too good after a cycle in there lol
