Good day all,

I'm looking for some advice about changing my overdrive button in my car.

A little backstory into the situation.

I had to replace my slider indicator for my automatic shifter and to accomplish this I had to cut the 3 wires of the overdrive button to disassemble the shifter assembly.

In an unfortunate situation, the O/D plastic housing was damaged in disassembly so I decided to change the switch and mount it elsewhere, most likely in the centre console area.

The 3 wires are green w/ white stripe (left), red (middle) and black (right).

I then inspected and tested the stock switch circuit to see what could be done.

I realised from the contacts on the switchboard that:
Contact of the black and green w/ white stripe wires means that the O/D is on and,
Contact of the black and red wires means that the O/D is off which results in the illumination of the 'O/D OFF' on the dash.

I bought a toggle switch from a local auto parts store to use as a replacement.

I would really appreciate some advice on how to wire the switch.

Thanks.

you need a 3 pin toggle switch., black to centre, then red to one side for ON, green to other side for OFF.

or try and get the correct part from a car breaker.
