Hi all, not an electrician by any means & know very little about it, hence why I’m asking for help if possible.
Came across lots of old/dead wiring on a property recently and was wondering if it could possibly contain any form of asbestos? Was this something that was commonly used in wiring in the uk? I’ll try and attach a pic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't expect wiring to contain asbestos but old fuses and main switches often do. The biggest risk from asbestos is where it is used as thermal insulation or as a filler in artex.

Hi,pictures are not too detailed...looks like rubber covered, not usually containing any dangerous materials, but don't be licking it ;)

Asbestos was not generally used in cables for the wiring installed a building and the cable in your pics, which looks like TRS, does not contain it. Only inside high temperature appliances like cookers was the cost justified, and even those were often non-asbestos from the 1960s. It is most likely to be present in fuse boxes etc. pre 1960, as flash pads and gaskets.
