chris-

does anybody know where to get cheap lightning protection tape/cable? for 200m ive been quoted from £2,000 to £11,000 including clips, clamps and earth rods

as long as she is cheap.... and a good conducter

Oh aye ...... she's cheap allreet ....... one bottle of Newcassell Broon & she's anybody's !!!

As for being a good conductor, she couldn't keep time even with five watches strapped to her wrist. (it's an old musicians joke)

You can try Remora Electrical. I have used them for earthing stuff in the past and their prices were reasonable but I have not bought tape off them, given the price of copper its going to hurt.

It's expensive because it's hard drawn copper that's used in lightning protection systems, and not the soft annealed copper of normal cables...

Have you ever installed a lightning protection system before?? They aren't rocket science, BUT ....they do have a good few regulations that need to be fully addressed for the system to comply with the current BS/CP. I think you'll find that they are also statutory regulations too!!

Not much past joy with that wrist then.......

For what is a specialist installation why do you think you can’t get cheap materials?

This isn’t a job that Joe Public can just pop down to the wholesaler and pick the bits up off the shelf for. Hard drawn copper is used to stop it distorting under fault. Even a bend around a roof / wall drop has to be curved to preserve the integrity of the conductor.

To be honest get a specialist in to sort the job.
