Double and reinforced insulation.

In my opinion this applies to fixtures and fittings. I had this conversation with somebody else and they ink it also refers to SWA and armoured cables?

If your talking about a schedule of inspections then it refers to cable.

Yes I'm referring to schedule of inspections. So it refers to double insulated fittings and also swa cable etc

No it refers to double insulated cables (PVC/PVC) and reinforced insulation (SWA)

I'm to so sure mate, I got some print outs to help with the schedule of inspections and it refers to Double insulated fittings. ( has the the square inside a square printed on it). And nothing about cables.?

I don't think it refers to cables either, i take that definition as meaning enclosures, containment's, fittings and the like... More than happy to be corrected though!! lol!!

It applies to any accessories or enclosure that has the double square on for the double insulation. The reinforced insulation is usually any specialised site applied insulation and would only normally be found in specialised installations for a specific purpose. When I was taught at college many moons ago the instructor who was a senior examiner previously at C&G said he had only ever done reinforced insulation once in a coal mine!

And you only tick that box if something is relying on double and/or reinforced insulation as it's sole protective measure.

As much of the other posts. Double insulation applies to class 2 fittings and enclosures, and reinforced is specialist stuff.
Dont confuse this with the Pat stuff, where double and/or reinforced insulation in class 2 appliances provides both basic and fault protection by its construction.

Protection by double or reinforced insulation refers to that being the protective measure for the installation/part of an installation, and therefore will not apply if the installation is protected by ADS (regardless of whether or not it contains equipment which is of a Class II construction).

Essentially, except in very specialist circumstances, it will always be recorded as "N/A" on the schedule of inspections.
