Hi all,

I have a double light switch that I attempted to fit a double dimmer switch by switching the wires over exactly as they were on the original but had no luck.

One of the lights worked but the other didn’t, as per the pictures the one that worked is the one on the left as you look at the picture (the one with more wires).

I’ve fannied about with it changing some wires and got in a mucking fuddle and gave up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Saul

It’s not a fast fix box, it’s a plastic back box. The screw holes aren’t on floating tabs, and you can see there’s no lip around the front edge.

Yes, since you’ve played with it a bit, it’s going to be difficult knowing what goes where from a distance.

My solution to this would involve some Wagos tucked away in the back of the box, to bring each connection to the switch down to a single wire, but as above, if their original positions are now not known for sure, it may require the services of a professional.
