Any one heard of the way to rejuvenate Nicad batteries or is it just stories

you need a dc power source slightly higher than the battery voltage, say 24V for an 18V battery. dab it on reverse polarity for a few secs, then repeat at the correct polarity. might take a few dabs, but it can work.

Ive also used that technique over many years and it does work after a nicad had stopped working due to memory effect .nmh batteries dont seem to last above 3 years either .i wonder whether the manufacturers actually program this decay into the battery so that u will replace battery or even the drill ?

I Did what teletrix said using the battery on the car, both NmH were dud and would not take a charge, a couple of croc leads and a quick flash on the terminals and they went from 1 volt to 9 volts, a couple of 1 hour charges and they are both good enough to use,

you can try to replace it by the lithium ion battery, it doesn't have memory effect, enviromental and convenient
