Hello, my work want me to do periodics on some of our sites. the sites are based at landfills.

Im not exactly sure how the earthing is arranged although i know it entails rods, tape and structual reinforcement in the concrete base.

My question is does external loop impedance not confirm the integrity of the earthing how ever its arranged. why do you have to do electrode tests?

Cheers Will

using a three point electrode test gives a much more accurate reading than simply doing Ze using the electrode

by electrodes test i take it you mean with a proper spike tester
there are two ways of testing an earth rod ,one is with a loop tester the other a proper spike tester
if your'e testing ze on tt system ...

presume thats what he means wayne

i am used to putting out spikes with mobile gen sets, so you have no option, because they are not TT, or really TNS either, so its the three point electrode tester for me

crossing post again shakey ,
i use a looptester when theres powr available because its quicker spike tester otherwise
