Hi just carried out an EICR prior to a consumer unit change. The customer has a wet room with a normal baton type accessorie. The ceiling height is more than 2.25 mtrs but the shower head is less than 1.2 meters from the light in a straight line. There is no rcd at the minute but will be once the new board is fitted. I will put that as a code 2 but will the light be ok once its rcd protected. my commoon sense thinks its not ok but the ceiling height is out of zone 1 ?

that's a C2 IMO. fitting is not suitable for location. exposed lamp could shatter causing injury to anyone in the shower. also water ingress could cause problems.

Zones aside, the fitting has to be suitable for location, the location being a wet room.
In my opinion, it's not suitable for location in this instance and I would also opt for a C2.
At the end of the day, it's your opinion that matters as the inspector signing the EICR.

C3 for no rcd for bathroom light.
C2 for unsuitable light fitting if within zones
C3 for unsuitable light fitting if outside zones

Dunno why but i always enjoy the PIR code questions :-D i'm weird lol.

Thanks for all your opinions & help on this. Will recommend the light is changed. Will put my mind at rest. Everything will be RCD protected now anyway.
