How do they like to see isolation "proved" when there is nowhere to prove it after an isolator is switched off (ie. DP islolator between meter and CU with sealed cover)? A proving unit is the obvious answer, but without one do they accept switching the isolator twice to "prove" it was dead and tester was working after?

I just got the date for my niceic renewal this morning. It's not till next month but can start to fell the stress about it already, although you know you do everything and know why you do things u just feel they are trying to catch u out and the mind goes blank and you turn into a jabbering mess lol

prove it as you said on known supply if not having a test rig!..... also i was also taught in navy that once you have proved dead and others are working on the equipment you should "touch" the busbar to show its dead...

My last assessment took 45 minutes (excluding drive to and from site) unfortunately that assessor has long since retired now..!

lol.... im not worried one bit! my work is top quality (apart from a few wago joins in cables that's to the best efforts of plumbers and torches and joiners with power drills...!)

the only stress you should be feeling is the weight of coin in your wallet dragging you down.....oh they`l soon have that sorted though....

Indeed, I was thinking about swapping to one of the others as they seem a bit cheaper
well they aint....theres one out there called stroma ....and what a useless set of turds they were n all...cheaper but seriously....they didn`t have a clue...their more for MCS n all that lot

I was considering napit, I want to go approved contractor status soon but don't know if it's just niceic that do this as 2 different types or if the others do it as well

Is this your 2nd assesment durham? mines coming up with elecsa soon, theyve already took the Annual fee out my account! just waiting for the letter, could you let us know how they are with the paperwork side of things? i have been slacking in doing any risk assesments/method statements and getting that customer consent form thing filled in, all the BS really, as far as certs go i keep all them in a box file!!

way i see it...!

British Gas = ECA (Elecsa)
Durham County Council = Napit

the movement is happening away from the NIC!!

unless you are tendering for contracts written by old farts with no sense of upto date goings on then NIC is unfortunately the only way to go... the contracts and tenders are based on templates written many moons ago..!

the local authorotys are supposed to spread work arout all the part p scheme providers....we all know they dont.....brown envelopes....undertable cash (wife) swaps....who knows what goes on at the annual council dinners...

way i see it is thatthe "crap" work will be dished out and the "lucrative" work will be kept in house or tendered to the big boys at teh dinner table!
