Hi,
I am installing a 12kw instantaneous water heater in an outbuilding which currently has a small water boiler with electricity and water in/out already connected so I thought it should just be an easy switch over.
The new boiler has arrived and has a much thicker cable (10mm2) and I was wondering if I could still use the same switch to install this?

TL;DR
Can I use the new thick electric cable with the same switch?

@James Sorry a follow up question, would an electrician be able to connect to a closeby closed socket (live cables from mains behind), or would it need to be wired back to the main board?

You cannot wire a 12kw boiler to a 13A socket! See post #2. I would recommend getting an electrician involved.

It is impossible to tell.
you really need a visit from an electrician to quote this job.
