New one way rcd protected cu to be installed but the old fuse box (no rcd) main switch does not have space for the R1 wire that is to be connected though the Rn an R2 can be easily connected in the old fuse box, the busbar itself has couple of unused spaces but I can not find any MCBs that will fit in this old fusebox!! now what do I do where do I connect this ?

New cu and old fuse box are just 2cm away from each other. What size wires do i use from old fuse box to ne cu 10mm or 16 mm?

Help will be really appreciated.

It's traditional to use a Henley block to tap into the tails between meter and fusebox. If the feed to the new CU is only to supply one final circuit, then 10mm² should be OK as it will be protected from overload by the MCB supplying the shower.

Thank you Kingeri and handysparks, I thought of Henley blocks but there is no space at all anywhere, its boxed in old iron made fuse box /meter , I was wondering if there is anything that can be used to connect on the busbar itself? as there are two spare spaces but no way to connect the R1 there unless I use some sort of connector like 10mm uninsulated crimp bolted on the busbar? I was wondering if it is against any regs?

Pull the bullet, split the tails after the meter and install an Henley block. Feed the existing cu and your new cu for the shower. Get your earth from the met and job done.
