Trying to get an ball park idea on costs to get 2 double sockets and a light in the garage. Blackpool Area.
New consumer unit fitted in 2014 that has spare ways.
At a guess route for cable would be from consumer unit up to loft (4m) across loft to rear (10m) then to armoured? Down outside of building (4m Bungalow) then buried under grass (1 flag at house and the concrete base of garage) to garage (8m) then up to suitable garage consumer unit and on to 2 double sockets and a florescent light. Plus all appropriate testing and paperwork.

OK I fully understand if it's too difficult to guess at a figure or people don't want to post on forum. You can always PM me.

Thanks for any help, just trying to work out if I can afford it as don't want to waste electricians time coming and formally quoting.

Thanks

second bob's estimate. looks about right, ignore my pm. he's closer to you.

As a ball park figure i would say around £250-£300. I am based in Blackpool if you wish to pm me.

2x double sockets
2x back boxes
1x Switch + box
1x Florrie
2x Swa glands
2x Pirhanna nuts
1x adaptable box
clips/trunking and/or conduit etc
Certification + Notification
then we have
A cost for actually doing the job

I tried fitting the estimate to the list of "needs be" and failed :)

£300 might be a little on the low side, but it's doable if it only takes 1 full day.

Tel you have a PM re another job :)

It's good just to get a very rough idea. I fully understand the need to see the job. It helps make a decision as to have a quote to install supply or not.
I hate getting multiple trades people to quote as some of them will have wasted their time when I place the job with only 1 of them. I always feel guilty of wasting peoples time and felt even a very rough guestimate would give me an idea.

Cheers everyone.

I went to quote for a similar job, but supply to shed & summerhouse. I was asked for 'ball park' figure whilst there, and I said guesstimate of £400-600 (bit more than just a couple of sockets and flory), but I'll send you a proper quote, when I have time to price properly.

Before I could do my quote, I had a phone call, saying they've found someone to do it for £220

Probably not too hard to spend that on materials for a proper job.

Plenty around who will do jobs, usually to a terrible standard, for peanuts. A lot of customers just want the cheapest job possible regardless of the standard of work.

Part P scams, checkatrade, trustatrader etc etc all need looking at imo as there are so many out there doing frankly dangerous work - and also taking work from proper sparks.
