Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if; when you install a new sub-main cable off an existing distribution board which feeds an out building, do i need to fill out 2 separate certificates or can i combine them as one?

Hi guys,

What certificates are you planning to issue?

By rights, it should be 2 certificates.
One for the sub main and the other for the new board and any out going circuits.
However most would do it on one certificate, with the sub main results recorded first on the Schedule, then a gap and the results for the new board.

My usual way would be one cert with a separate schedule of test results for each board.
On larger installations I might even do a separate inspection schedule but for this domestic job that would not really be needed.

Personally, for me, it depends on whether the sub board is using the same earthing system as the main DB or not. If they are on the same earthing system I use 1x EIC, with 1x schedule of inspections and 2x test sheets (one for each board). If they're on different earthing systems I issue 2x separate EICs (each with 1x schedule of inspections and 1x test sheet).

And assuming its domestic you need to issue a Part P certificate too ...
What is a Part P certificate? I used to do the notification on-line years ago and the customer/occupier used to get sent a building regulations compliance certificate by the competent scheme provider.
