Discuss Electrical wire connectors help please in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi guys that's great thank you. I was worried the plug parts did something to alter the current or something and I'd end up soldering the wires together and destroying the light. As you say I'll mark up the cables from each plug on one side before I chop them so I don't cross them over. Then am I ok to solder and heat shrink the joins and call it job done?

If you do decide to cut and solder the cables, stagger the joints so A - it will not short out, and B - will be a neater job.

Not my work....photo off web.
