Good morning Gents,

I have just woken up to an email detailing this problem. I fitted 6 LED (dimmable) downlighters with a trailing edge dimmer into a living room.

The problem is that when the guy now turns on the strip light in the kitchen, the downlights seem to be going off for a few seconds while the strip light is doing it's flickering and then re-adjusting themselves to the set level.

I can only really think that the inductive load of the strip is somehow confusing the dimmer (It has the usual overload / short cct protection etc).

Anyone else come accross this? I won't get a chance to go and have a look this week so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris

must be the time for it ;) ..I posted a thread on dimmers last night with the hope of a reply about a decent brand to use ..
Fwiw ..I would guess that your flourescent is spilking the protection on your dimmer and crowbarring the out put protection which causes the momentary shutdown (doing it,s job)...its fast becoming an issue with domestic mixes of lighting types and power supplies ..

Thanks Andy, Yeah, thats along the lines of what i was thinking.

It's ok with the other lighting in the house. Luckily the guy is having his kitchen done soon so is happy to have a non flourescent in there when he has that done.
