Hi,

Would it be a wise idea to email companies about possible vacancies (apprenticeships) inquiring if they need an apprentice etc, I really do want an apprenticeship. Or should I simply use job searches and look for openings?

Regards,
Anthony.

Hi, im my opinion a letter followed by a phone call a few days later is much better than an email. When i first started i phoned every company in the yellow pages and only 1 said yes, turned out he was a great guy and i learnt a hell of a lot from him. Good luck

Hi Anthony,

I would say it is a good idea but its imperative that you have a good CV to go with the email!! We get so many that send us requests and do not even spell check what they send over. Offer some 'free willing to learn' services maybe in the holidays if at college and make sure you have all your basic skills and qualifications in literacy and numeracy too.....as they say nothing ventured nothing gained! Indicate if you have transport, own tools, PPE etc, etc too and the areas you would be prepared to work. Good Luck! Sally - Director of Earthloop Electrical Testing Ltd

hi there, i would call up some companys then you get to chat to the person, then email or letter to them, i did the letter way and it can cost a bit i,e sent off 30 letter got 2 replys saying not taking on
