Discuss Enlite E8 LED Downlights in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

I'm sure I saw somewhere that these were nominated for an award recently for best new product at an awards thing.

I was also wondering if anybody had any other feedback on these. Might give them a try next time i fit some Dow lights.

I have probably fitted between 600-800 of these now, and have had 1 faulty unit in 18 months. Really really impressed with them. The dimming is excellent, the changeable bezels are very handy as well. Price wise yes they are quite cheap and better light than a JCC which uses 3 year old technology (a long time in LED terms!)

I am now fitting these over the JCC as they are significantly cheaper, I know another electrician who has installed several hundred units without issue.

my only comment would be make sure you have strong fingers! The push down terminals are very stiff and take some getting used to compared to the JCC, they take slightly longer to install than the JCC's and need a screwdriver to do the cable clamp.

Aurora also do a higher end fitting that has the option of different angle lenses and also round and square bezels, from. Recollection it is a 10W unit but the cost is a fair bit higher.

Cheers

Paul

You are right Paul, in my opinion they have two things that let them down. One is the push down terminals as you mentioned, but once you get the hang of them it is easy, there is a particular angle that they go in at and when you get it it is much easier.

The only other gripe is how the terminals are laid out - they are live, neutral, live, neutral, earth earth. If they had the earth between the live and neutral they would be a lot quicker to install!!
