Evening all..

I left the trade ten years ago to pursue a different career, having worked in the industry from 16-25. I managed to achieve my Parts 1 and 2 C+G when BS7671 was 16th edition. Primarily working in domestic and commercial, latterly railway signalling and tunnel lighting on the Underground.

I find myself with significant days off owing to shift work, I find myself repeatedly asked to undertake private work through friends and my brother, who is a self employed plumber. I have on occasion worked assisting other sparks to finish jobs.

I'm looking to update my qualifications (if necessary) and register with NAPIT or similar to lawfully be able to install and sign off work on a self employed/small business basis.

Is there such a think as a condensed update course? Mindful we're moving to the 18th Edition very shortly.

Thanks in advance,

Charlie

Currently you'd only need 17th Edition to join one of the competent persons schemes.

Several on here are members of Stroma which is cheaper than the others.

You'll also need insurance, test kit etc.

Had never heard of Stroma...
Have a fluke multi-function that'll require re calibration but even though I'd left the trade still spent far too much money on tools.
Thanks
