Dear All,

Could someone give me some ideas I would like to capture the Installation methods for the control wiring and ELV (BMS) wiring by means of GI trunking? Is it acceptable or whether I have to install GI conduit for the control wiring and ELV wiring. Please note XLPE cables has been installed with Cable Tray. Only I need control cables (1cx.2.5 mm2 and Belden cable for BMS) installation method (By GI conduit/GI Trunking) for 4 Nos of Cooling Towers. So I request some one guide me with clear instructions with IEE standards, it will help me lot. Expecting your valuable advice.

Mate, you're in Qatar and the site address ends in .co.uk
What makes you think that we will be familiar with any regulations or codes of practice that you may or may not be working to?
How about you tell us which regs you're using.

I may be wrong but I think Qatar works to American NEC. I’m not trawling though them to do his work for him.

Qatar (having worked there LOTS) is an odd place electrically. Commonly, you will find either American or Australian M&E's designing to BS7671 or thereabouts, with a different approach to commercial (which follows 7671 more closely) than domestic or maybe hotels etc which mirror NEC. You then have everything actually being installed by Indian and Philippine labour, and it commonly ends up as a big mess. That's why I've spent so much time there!

But I wouldn't worry about incomplete construction for the world cup, those boys can knock up a 100 storey tower block in about 2 months when they want to.

when you say belden, thats a brand

do you meen 2,3,4,5+c twisted pair with screen or yy?

if it is a long run outside it might be better to run a large multi core core then an adaptable box to split off at the other end.

how long is the run your talking about we dont use a cable that size on 100m runs
