Just been reading through a recommendation to a client that advises that an external gas meter does not require bonding under current regulations. Can anyone confirm this?

thanks in anticipation

Havent heard that one within 600mm on consumers side still the norm. Is plastic piping with no exposed metal that might be the reason.

Hope someone can give you more precise details

Chris

external gas meters do require bonding on the consumers side,(the gas meter box is considered part of the building). generally if a meter is external you will find that the gas pipes are buried in the wall or screed inside the building. if you cant bond because of the plastic insert outside you have to bond on the first piece of available copper inside the building.within 600mm from the meter is preferable .

:)

Hi

Why would you want to bond an outside meter, you do not need to bond it unless its has a striking risk to a LPS system. You only need to bond inside of the property, if you can not achieve this you could bond at the meter but this is a none-preferred method
