Have just built an understairs WC and utilized an existing light that was operated by a pull cord. (just off/on) I want to install an extractor fan with timer to operate using the existing pull switch. I know I will need a switched live to operate the timer, how do I create one using the existing supply?

Can you show the wiring at the light fitting.
Not without a bit of trouble, just has live/neutral & earth feeding the switch. I also know I need to fit an isolating switch in the circuit.

So you only have one cable at the switch, can we see the wiring there.
