Hi Guys,

Installing a whole house vent system that will tick over constantly. PIR's to be installed in each bathroom to boost the fan while the bathroom is occupied.

The client would like an extra vent in the utility room to extract the heat while the tumble drier is running...?!? Crazy i know. Especially as he has air conditioning throughout the flat...

Is there such a product that can be installed to achieve this? Don't want to be taking apart the tumble drier to pick up a switched contact!

Thanks!

There is a device used to start up a vacuum machine when a powertool is switched on has wiring to it and the power tool plugs in on a 13a plug, possibly this could be adapted to your requirements think axminster tools do them.

Use a mechanical thermostat to send a signal to the central extract system.

I think any solution you come up with would be more complicated than getting a supply from the drier, but you could insert a flow switch in the tumble drier extract duct, or as moses says a thermostat in the duct, possibly a photocell over the tumble drier operation light or a current sensor in the connection to the drier.

Just make sure that you install the fan unit correctly otherwise you'll have 24/7 noise transfer all through the house! Most of them are designed to be suspended on rubber straps and not just sat on a joist.
