Faulty outside lights with PIR

Recently i've fitted 3 outside lights with PIR, next to customers front door and one on my own garage, the £30 to £45 ones from screwfix...they last between a week and 6 months then go faulty... so i have to keep going back... any ideas..

To be fair, two are from screwfix and the one i have is from a wholesaler i used to work for... I suppose i was hinting at, is this a common problem with cheap outside lights!!

he means that , in his opinion, LAP are crap. TBH they're not bad for budget range gear, but the reliability is obviously not as good as someof the better known, more xpensive brands.

having said that, i fitted a 30watt LED flood and PIR at home 2 years ago.higher price range as it was £40+VAT. it packed in last week. the driver is not driving any more. opening it up, the driver was made in China, same as the cheapo versions. these days it's pot luck, whatever brand you go for.

OP - the units you fitted , did they have the cables fitted out of the box or did you have to fit them?

Take em back, get refund and get some decent ones, Lap = shyite

They're flipping LAP, two packs in one year. Takes me about two hours to get them out & in. Gonna use candles next time.

I fitted some LAP barrel lights that a customer supplied, two out of four failed in 12 weeks, I changed them over for some replacements that screwfix gave the customer....All four have now failed after about 6 months. I told the customer £120 + VAT to go change them over again which I think is pointless. I would never supply lap fittings as I would be forever returning to jobs on warranty.

I thought it was frowned upon for you guys to install parts that the customer have bought, for this very reason.

It normally is but the OP would more than likely have got the fittings from screwcarp anyway.
