Hi fellas, Ive got a few questions about what to expect in year one of 2330. Im doing it part time, 2 nights a week in Port Talbot college. So Lvl 2 will take me 2 academic years.
Im assuming, that the first few weeks, are gonna be about safe working practice, H&S and the dangers of electricty etc... but when does the practical side of things come into it?

it doesnt say 2330 in the course title, but the info thats been sent to me via the tutor has it in there. He did send me something to say its all changing around tho and a diploma was coming into play instead.

My boy is doing the 2330 and has just finished first year, bit different to yours as he's on day release but his was six months of H & S etc and only started doing calculass a few months ago. He does very little practical as his marks are made from me on site for which i have to keep a record of evidence. For a night school version I would think its very limited and only gives you the information to look up much the same as most of these geared courses. its 20% in class and 80% at home studying. In saying that as most of the threads have covered they tend to only teach the areas in the exam rather that the broad spectrum you should know as it keeps the figures up.

When I did it the days were split into 3 sections -
Science - maths, electrical theories etc
Installation Technology (Ins Tech) - the regs, wiring diagrams, health & safety etc
Practical - practical techniques such as how to clip and terminate cables, bend conduit etc.

Although technically level 3 stuff, we started on Reactance in science and cable calcs in Ins Tech in the second year so it didn't all have to be crammed into the 3rd year.

Chances are they'll break you in gently, but don't worry if it goes over your head to begin with - you've got 3 years for it to sink in.
