Mondays job,

"Isolation switch for the pump keeps shorting" Location: basement

That's it, all the detail you'll ever need.

Four hour round trip.

Come on smart arses diagnoses please.

My money is on a genuine high load, motor bearing gone or some such. Turn up, clamp it, prove it high = "you need a new pump, ta ta"

All you know for certain, from that description, is you have either a fault current or overload condition. Other than that, you are just guessing until you get there.

Can't give myself a winner tag.:(

Turned up, clamped it, condemned it. 26A on start-up down to 12.7A steady state Vs. Plate value of 9A.

Well it's lease kit so they need to get the company out to service/replace/repair it.

What got me was the pile of three FCUs, all cracked across the fuse, piled up in the corner.

What kind of zombies do they send on these jobs?

"Mmm, maybe there's somethingup here? No, job sheet says replace switch, must replace switch"
