Hi
I work with low voltages I install CCTV systems and intruder alarms,
just wonder what qualifications and certificates do I need to be able to install fire alarms? are there any regulations in the UK that have to be followed?
thanks

Fire systems come under BS5839 which details requirments for design, installation, maintenance, etc. Courses aren't too difficult, easier than BS7671 for sure!

Be aware that it's your competence that will be measured if things go wrong, not your qualifications! It's experience you'll be needing...

you ll certainlly need 17th ed plus cg2381 plus registration unless your going to get building control out every time you do an install which will add about £230 to each one, as you need a cert. of installation and test

do i need to be fully qualify in the uk electrician to fit and certify fire alarms or i just need to do a fire alarms course to be able to do that, which course do i need to finish to meet the regulations?
for examlple at the moment i have knowledge and experience only but i am not a qualify neither electrician nor fire alarm engineer but i know everything about the trade though, i would like to work on my own and do it as an one person company, what do i need to have to do that??? does anybody know???
