Hello all. At my workbench at work I have a MIG. It is next to a wall where there are sockets and I was wondering if there are any kind of fireproof sockets available cheap as I am on a budget. It needs to withstand temperatures ranging from 100-1000 degrees C as I do weld very close. I can't be bothered ripping all the sockets out and re arranging them plus they are useful for other tools as they are so close. Thanks:smile:

just get a welding screen and cover them. it will be cheaper

Yeah, if the socket is getting welding splatter on it then it needs to be moved at least a bit further away. Also I'd be more worried about the trailing cable more than the socket if the temperature is getting anywhere near what you mention.

This is exactly why we need fireproof sockets to go along with our fireproof CU's....... :)

Good luck with finding a plug and socket arrangement that will withstand 1000 deg C. I'm pretty sure this temperature will not be reached at the actual socket. As someone else said above the cable would melt anyway! Daz
