Hi everyone,
Anyone heard of the Building control wanting cable traces done?
Im using my house as the first job already done and plastered in .Its not a new build and inner skin is made up of The Famous Clinker Blocks so i used existing socket holes and chases even though there not within the 150mm ruling and the 450mm height etc anyone had any probs with this ? Any comments would be appreciated please j

The 450mm rule is only for new builds so that's not a problem. However if your cables are run outside of safe zones they will only comply if they're mechanically protected by earthed steel conduit etc.

I would say that if you're gonna use the job for your NIC assessment then it needs to be spot on.

Cheers chaps, building control def want cable trace done, spoke to Nic today regarding Zones etc they said basically the same if its not new build and the clinker blocks, shouldnt be a problem.Looks like b control are putting me through the paces though Nic suggested they put it in writing to me regarding me appointing their recommended private inspectors.
Thanks again chaps will keep u posted of outcomes should know in a few weeks and a few quid lighter ,Ha Ha
