Hi,

BTW I'm not an electrician.

Ive got 2 five ft luminaire lights with each holding 2 T8 tubes. The other night 2 tubes went out, I changed the tubes no joy. So I am thinking it must be the ballast.

The ballast is this one
2 x 58W T8 High Frequency Ballast | CEF - http://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/4108203-1-x-58w-h-f-ballast?q=Ballast

Every thing going well until fixing the wires into the ends. I can't seem to get the wires in properly, any tips the best way to get these in please.

The old ones I used to change easy as I just changed the starting motor
Thanks

convert to LED. no ballast required.

I was thinking that but I've bought the tubes now & the ballast.

They appear to be insulation displacement connectors.

They are a pain, I tend to use a small screwdriver (or two - one on either side of the blade) to push the cable down into them. I'm sure you can buy specialist tools, but there is so much variety you could end up with a bag full of different ones.

Just be careful that you don't bend the blades which cut through the insulation to make contact with the copper.

one if those plastic IDC tools you get with a phone socket might do the job.

Strip back a bit of insulation and they should push easily into the little holes underneath, they do not need to be terminated on the top bit.
